The Effect of Light

I've always loved watching sunsets and this one in particular was very memorable. I found this picture earlier today scrolling through old photos out of boredom. There is something quite calming and relaxing from watching the sun set. I'm not going to regurgitate what the following link says, but it is an interesting read as to how sunset gazing can benefit our health, and with Covid-19 putting new or added stress to the mix why not pull back the curtains or sit in your garden with a blanket with a glass of red. It might be a nice distraction, even if it's just for a little while.
It wouldn't be a Lil & Mift post without mentioning candles. As well as sunsets, sunrises, there is something quite comforting from a lighting a candle. Throughout history, candles have been used either simply to see in the dark,or used for spiritual and religious reasons.
It has been scientifically proven (I read this somewhere) that candles may help relax the mind and calm us down due to the soft illumination. Certain scents also play a part, soothing scents such as Lavender and Bergamot help to create a peaceful ambiance. Certain scents can also evoke memories. Choose a scent that reminds you of a joyful or relaxing time, it may be the mood booster that you need.
